They are responsible for constructing the overall show schedule, ensuring the production supervision staff is meeting the schedule, and watching over the day-to-day operations of the show within the facility.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Interview, select and train Production Managers
  • Engage in the performance management process such as performance reviews, daily feedback, and mentoring for direct reports (2-5 people)

The CG Supervisor is essential to the final delivery of high quality digital effects for our clients. The CG Supervisor will work in partnership with the VFX Supervisor to ensure the creative and technical visions of our clients are realized. The CG Supervisor will familiarize themselves with all aspects of the show, the capabilities of Sophoria’s existing tools and capabilities of the team to assess what will be required to deliver exceptional quality work for our clients.

In addition, they will identify gaps in abilities and work with the R&D and Pipeline Teams to spec tools or methodologies to ensure our Artists can complete the brief. They will work with the VFX Supervisor and Producer to assess all needs during the pre-production schedule and ensure that they have the appropriate staff and workflow capabilities to get the job done.

In contrast to the VFX Supervisor who acts as the client facing creative Supervisor, the CG Supervisor will act as the internal facing technical Supervisor. They will provide supervision and support to various teams of artists/developers as well as delegate to department Leads/Supervisors. The CG Supervisor will provide both creative and technical problem solving approaches to their work.

The CG Supervisor will also contribute to the overall operation and improvement of SOPHORIA by setting and maintain SOPHORIA’s standards. This will include, but will not be limited to engaging in cross-department communication or training, keeping abreast of new technologies, documentation, taking part in interviews and participating in the buddy system for new employees.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Act as the primary technical leadership on the project
  • Manage the techniques used to generate and edit CG elements from asset creation to final composition
  • Work with Production to determine what information may be required from clients to ensure a smooth show setup and execution

The Visual Effects Supervisor is responsible for the design and execution of visual effects work on a given project. VFX Editors work in conjunction with the Executive Producers and Central Production Manager to ensure all tasks are managed to meet client show delivery requirements. In addition, VFX editors will work with the Marketing Manager to develop demo reels to help promote SOPHORIA’s work and secure new business. They will ensure that all work completed is brand aligned and highlights the areas of work specified by the Executive Producer/Marketing Manager.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Setting up a show’s editorial components, and working with pipeline/workflow team to ensure correct client show specs are in place
  • Help ingest and setup/process all client editorial material, including client cuts, Avid bins, VFX line-up sheets, plates, CDLs, etc.
  • Set up Shotgun with all editorial related information from client VFX line-ups, such as frame ranges, retimes, and all other client editorial information, then communicate and manage this information for a show’s duration
  • Set up editorial references for artists to match retimes, repositions, and other client editorial vfx indications, and provide additional details where required
  • Update sequences with any changes to the cut from client editorial and clearly communicate these changes to the team
  • Keep cuts updated with latest VFX versions of shots, and create review media of these cuts for team and supervisor review on a regular basis
  • Maintain databases and logs of work progress as required to efficiently track the status of all work and provide easy updates to managers and coordinators
  • QC all shot deliveries to client and other material, such as plates for outsource vendors
  • Setup and run RV for dailies and additional screenings (remote and/or theatre reviews)
  • Create and update demo reels of VFX material for specific needs as assigned by Marketing and Production

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

SOPHORIA is recruiting a Pipeline TD – Feature Film to maintain and develop SOPHORIA’s production pipeline. The Pipeline TD must be able to work with Sophoria and build new plug-ins and setups to help run the production process for the artists. Developing custom scripts and management portals for the VFX production is a must. We offer a relocation package for this position but the artist can also work remote if desired. The pipeline must be maintained and kept up to date with technical improvements in software and scripts along with hardware changes. The TD must be able to develop workflows and identify ways of streamlining the asset management in all departments.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide technical troubleshooting support to end users to the Sophoria pipeline, implementing bug fixes or solutions and work arounds.
  • Maintain and develop libraries (python) and API’s for our pipeline tools to meet the requirements of the production line.
  • Build and develop a custom pipeline to work seamlessly with a wide range of software such as Maya, Max, Houdini, Mari, Zbrush, Nuke, Arnold or similar.
  • Test and document new software and tools along with their adaptability
  • Provide support to the users; diagnose bugs and issues artists experienced with the pipeline, provides alternatives and solutions, enter and filter development and support requests in the database
